    The Nudge Says…

Pouring what could be the freshest pints in London, they’ve cut out the keg and bottling process and pulling pints directly from each of the six, 1000-litre brewing tanks perched above the bar, so whatever’s hitting your glass has no additives, no chemicals and hasn’t been pasteurised. And is pretty darn eco-conscious, which is nice. This radical approach to tradition is reflected in the interiors, with Victorian tiling and parquet floors offset by exposed brickwork and graffiti murals of the brewing process, all revolving around a hulking timber bar.

The buzzy space was brimming with City suits on our mid-week visit, keen to try The Long Arm’s take on brewing. The pub follows a ‘tank fresh’ approach thanks to its on-site micro-brewery – this means drinks are served directly from the tank, cutting out the need for bottles and packaging. It may come across as a gimmick, but we did find our IPA beer tasted fresher for it. Other options from punters to choose from include stout and ale, while there’s also a small-batch gin too.

It’s already there on the eco-friendly beer front though, with a row of silver brew tanks glimmering and tended to by the bar. Tank Fresh technology delivers unadulterated beer a mere matter of metres to the bar, thereby shrinking Long Arm’s carbon footprint. The brewery’s full beer family – including the excellent Shadow Wolf stout, served by the bottle and rich with coffee aromas – is joined by specials on tap, such as a distinctively sour Mexican-style Cerveza.
